A telecommunications worker will embark on the journey of a life time across hundreds of miles for an armed forces charity.

Dan Hedger, an Openreach employee from Watford, will undertake the gruelling challenge of trekking the Helambu trail in Nepal on November 16 in aid of the armed forces.

Mr Hedger has been given a £3,250 minimum target to raise for SSAFA, the armed forces charity. He will join a team of 16.

He said: “I am taking part for my friends in the Armed Forces, they deserve the ultimate respect. I’m looking forward to a new challenge for a good cause.”

Mr Hedger will journey the unexplored Helambu region of Nepal 72 kilometres north-east of Kathmandu, following a route through the Himalayan foothills and up through breath-taking altitudes to finish in Kathmandu on November 24.

All money raised will go towards practical, emotional and financial support for the Armed Forces.
