A mum of two starred in a television show which invites “rich kids” to live with families who struggle to get by on a low income.

Charmaine Sangari, 34, was joined by Freddie, a 20-year-old student from Chelsea, at her home in Garston, for 5Star show Rich Kids Go Skint.

Freddie, who went to a £36,000-a-year boarding school, spent the weekend living with Charmaine and her two children, Sean-Amari, 4, and Shayla-Rose, 2.

Three years ago, Charmaine suffered a marriage break-up and was left homeless with her son.

Charmaine, who revealed she has just £12 in disposable income once her monthly outgoings are settled, wanted to feature on the show to prove that money is not the key to happiness.

Watford Observer:

She said: “When my son was born, he was diagnosed with a blood condition so I decided to stay at home and look after him. The news ended my marriage and I moved into a hostel with my boy. But I soon found out I was pregnant again.

“The difficult times I have been through has helped me find a positive attitude in everything I do. I wanted to go on the show because I wanted to meet someone who had a very fortunate life but demonstrate money is not the key to happiness."

“Freddie was not the stereotype rich kid I’d imagined or seen in previous shows. He was really sweet and considerate. He was ready to pitch in and help play and feed the kids. He even gave Sean a special airplane as well as an annual pass to the Science Museum.”

Charmaine has a goal of her own though. A year ago, she entered her first beauty pageant and she won the title of the UK’s Dazzling Beauty, representing Watford.

It gave her a huge confidence boost and now she wants to help empower women and allow them t express themselves in an environment free from judgement.

She will be holding a workshop at Harebreaks Community Hub on December 16 at 2pm. With plenty of make-up, fashion and posing tips and tricks the event is set to be filled with fun and freedom to just be. There will be prize giveaways, which every women will be entered into for free.
