Debenhams will cover the cost of customer parking for a limited time when shoppers spend £50 in store on certain ranges.

Starting today (December 3) the intu Watford store will reimburse the cost of two hours of customer parking when shoppers buy items from its fashion, home, beauty and gifting ranges.

The scheme will run until December 9.

Customers simply produce a photo or ticket at the till as proof for the cost of two hours parking to be deducted from goods purchased.

The move is part of the brand’s mission to make shopping “sociable and fun”.

Store manager, Tony Hurley, said: “We hope that by taking away the pain of a parking ticket that we’ll do our bit to encourage shoppers to hit the high street and rediscover their joy of shopping.”

Debenhams chief executive officer, Sergio Bucher, added: “By taking away some of the cost for customers we hope they will come along and not only ‘do a bit of Debenhams’ but also meet with family and friends and rediscover everything that is going on along their high street.”

Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “We are delighted to see this business initiative by Debenhams to support high street shopping this Christmas.

“Our high streets act as important community hubs as well as providing employment for a great many people. We hope that shoppers will take advantage of this free parking offer and come down to see what Watford has to offer.”
