A charity for Watford General Hospital has praised two firms for supporting its Christmas appeal.

Tusker, a car benefit company has joined in on Watford Hospital’s Christmas appeal organised by Raise a Smile.

It is currently collecting gifts and supporting Watford General’s elderly, children, and Watford’s New Hope homeless charity, in the run up to Christmas.

The 180 employees at Tusker will be donating to one of the charities each week in December with requests for books, gift sets and the like for the elderly, toys and games for the children, and hats, scarves and jumpers for the homeless.

It’s just a small way that the 180 employees at Tusker can help others in the local community, particularly those less fortunate, at this time of year. And because it’s a nice thing to do.

Samantha Sherratt, director of Raise said: “One of the wonderful added benefits of this appeal has been the chance to develop new relationships with the community.

“It is a delight to work with Tusker and we thank them enormously for their support.”

Law firm, Slater and Gordon have also joined the charity and Tusker in donating gifts.

Members of the team brought in a whole host of presents including gloves, chocolates, gift sets and socks so the hospital’s older patients have something to open over the festive period.

Samantha Sherratt added: “Presents are hugely important, and by donating these gifts Slater and Gordon employees are helping to keep the magic alive for our older patients spending the festive season in hospital.

“A thoughtful, heartfelt present is a lovely way to spread a bit of joy. A huge thank you to the team.”
