A teenager’s bike was stolen while he was at the gym.

Police are investigating the theft which took place outside the YMCA gym in Linnet Road, Abbots Langley, on Monday December 10 between 4.45pm and 5.20pm.

The boy had secured his bike to a rack with a padlock but when he left the gym with his friend, the bike was no longer there and neither was the padlock.

Officers want to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image as they believe he was in the area at the time and may have information that could help with their investigation.

Contact PC Jamie Negrello on Jamie.Negrello@herts.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting crime reference 41/64550/18 if you recognise the man or have any information about the incident.

Police say the best lock to use is a solid steel D-shaped shackle lock which can be purchased at any bike shop. They suggest to always lock your bike to something solid like a lamppost, and most importantly, although it didn’t work in this teenager’s case, always lock your bike even if you are leaving it for just a few moments.
