NEW: Works in Rickmansworth Road could be in place for a week
There are major delays in Watford this morning due to roadworks.
Works are being carried out in Rickmansworth Road by UK Power Networks near the junction of Hagden Lane - and it is causing absolute chaos across the town.

Traffic is gridlocked all the way along Rickmansworth Road from the roundabout near Watford Library and the top end of the Parade.
It has also left Hempstead Road at a crawl all the way from Hunton Bridge to the town hall - worse than usual during the rush hour.

And there are delays coming off the ring road past Sainsbury's towards Rickmansworth Road.
In the other direction, there are queues on Rickmansworth Road stretching all the way back to Croxley Green, along Baldwins Way and Watford Road towards Croxley station.
There are delays in Whippendell Road too in both directions as drivers try and avoid Rickmansworth Road.
Side roads are also getting jammed so leave as much time as possible if heading out.
The multi-way signals in Rickmansworth Road are set to be in place for a week, but we will clarify as soon as we can when the roadworks are scheduled to finish.
Our view of #Watford this morning... Very busy and loads of roadworks happening in #Watford today. Allow additional time to your journeys if you are planning to head out. #Besafe pic.twitter.com/9KzBVb0pju
