A homeless man has been convicted of three burglaries.

Nicholas Binks, 26, of no fixed address, appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on January 10.

He pleaded guilty to burgling the library in New Road, Croxley Green, on both May 10 and August 15, 2018, and also breaking into Oxhey Library on Bridlington Road on August 29, 2018.

During the burglary at Croxley Green library on August 15 he stole £200 in cash, but he did not take anything on the two other occasions.

Binks was sentenced to 46 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was fined £2,275.98. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Sergeant Neil Canning, from the Rickmansworth and Croxley Green Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Binks was identified as the offender from CCTV footage before being arrested and charged.

“I want this to serve as a warning to those people who choose to commit burglary offences in Three Rivers. We will investigate and we will bring you to justice.”
