A football fan will finish a 231-mile run at the Graham Taylor statue in Watford to cap off his 13th journey to every Burnley away game this season.

Having made it to 12 grounds across the country on foot already this season, Scott Cunliffe will finish the arduous trip to Vicarage Road tomorrow - his second furthest run so far.

The Clarets supporter has encouraged fans from both clubs to join him for the final five-mile run from Kings Langley to the ground, reaching the statue approximately two hours before kickoff at 3pm.

Mr Cunliffe concocted the ‘RunAway’ challenge before the season, and aims to run 3,000 miles by the end, having visited 19 away stadiums.

On his JustGiving page, Mr Cunliffe wrote: “I wanted to set myself a big challenge that combined my love of away days with my passion for running and for my hometown of Burnley.”

The Burnley fan began the road to Watford on January 12, stopping in Derby, Leicester and Northampton along the way.

Mr Cunliffe, who spent two decades in South-East Asia working for various charities, said he wanted to use the powerful therapy of running to help a good cause.

He added: “I want to use that experience to benefit others and I think football is the perfect way to unite people in this cause.”

Half of the money raised will go to charities in Burnley, while the other portion will be donated to each of the community trusts of the other Premier League clubs.

The runner’s Strava page shows he has clocked up almost 60 hours of running this season, covering over 264 miles.

At the time of writing, Mr Cunliffe has raised £9,750.65. To support him, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/therunawaychallenge
