Tributes have poured in for a superfan who has died at the age of 46.

Kings Langley Football Club announced yesterday that club sponsor and number one fan Matt Allcock died when he collapsed on Saturday, following the club’s game in Weymouth.

Matt has been described by the club an “inspiration” and say he will be “hugely missed and fondly remembered”.

In a statement, the club said: “It is with great sadness that Kings Langley Football Club announce the tragic passing of number one fan and club sponsor, Matt Allcock.

“Our hearts go out to Matt’s family at this time of loss and sorrow.

“Matt was known and loved by everyone at the club. His ultimate passing, at the age of just 46, has been deeply felt by everyone at the club and the community beyond.

“Matt was an inspiration to us all with boundless enthusiasm in support of the club and he, more than anyone, has done so much to engender the spirit of togetherness and camaraderie that exists throughout the club today.

“Matt will forever be fondly remembered by so many within our community. He will be hugely missed by everyone’s life he touched.

“Rest assured that a permanent reminder will feature predominantly at Kings Langley Football Club in commemoration of Matt’s selfless devotion to our club.”

News of Matt’s passing was met with sadness by those who knew him, including his family, with several people and football clubs paying their own tributes in a series of tweets.

Kings Langley’s fixture at home to Salisbury this evening has been postponed as a mark of respect to Matt.

At the home match against Staines Town on Saturday, the club are inviting everyone down to the ground to acknowledge how much Matt meant to them.

People will be able to pay what they want to attend the game with all proceeds going to Matt’s family.
