Police launched a helicopter search for a man brandishing a machete.
Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to reports of criminal damage to a car and property in Long Elms in Abbots Langley at around 2.30pm on Saturday.
Police said the incident involved parties "known to each other".
A man fled the area allegedly carrying a machete before police arrived.
Armed police and a helicopter team were deployed, and a man was subsequently arrested.
- Darren Guthrie, 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with common assault, two counts of criminal damage to vehicles including a police car, criminal damage to a property, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.
He appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was remanded into custody to appear at crown court at a later date.
