A school has written to parents after reports a pupil was followed along a road and approached several times.

The deputy head teacher at Rickmansworth School says a man in a vehicle recovery van parked outside the school slowly followed a key stage 5 pupil along Watford Road on Tuesday.

He addressed her several times in an inappropriate manner before he stopped by Croxley station. He then approached her, but the pupil got out her mobile phone and called for help, which prompted the man to leave.

Watford Observer:

This email was sent to parents and carers on Wednesday by Rickmansworth School

There were a host of similar incidents in October particularly in the Croxley Green area and it prompted police to step up patrols.

There were also similar reports in Watford, Kings Langley, and Hemel Hempstead.

Rickmansworth School has urged parents to take a moment to discuss the journey their child takes to and from school and encourage pupils to walk in pairs and always call police if they feel threatened at any time.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says it is now aware of the report.
