Part of Watford's main shopping centre was evacuated this afternoon.
Shoppers at intu Watford were ushered out of the building shortly after 2pm today after an alarm began ringing out.
South Oxhey councillor Steve Cox was among those asked to leave. At first he said there was a bit of "confusion" with the alarm going off and no one knowing what to do.
He said everyone was eventually asked to leave, but then he added a megaphone wasn't working which caused a delay in getting everyone out.
Hi, we had a false alarm unfortunately we had to evacuate an area of the mall. Thanks for your patience. We’re now open again as usual and sorry to any of our shoppers who were caught up in it.

Among those also evacuated were those at the climbing centre at Rock Up and people in John Lewis.
Some sections of intu Watford were not evacuated.
intu later confirmed it was a false alarm and has thanked shoppers for their patience. The shops opened again for the rest of the afternoon but have since shut due to Sunday opening hours.
Cineworld and Hollywood Bowl are open as usual.
