A woman was saved from her burning car when it caught fire after a crash.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called by the Fire and Rescue Service to reports of a collision on Prestwick Road, South Oxhey, at around 6.30pm yesterday.

A black Vauxhall Corsa involved in the smash had caught fire at the junction with Oxhey Drive.

The driver, a woman, had to be rescued before being treated by paramedics.

Police said her injuries are minor.

Road closures were put in place while fire crews tackled the blaze.

The Vauxhall Corsa was later recovered and roads were reopened around 8.15pm.

A 30-year-old woman from Watford has been arrested on suspicion of both drink and drug driving and is currently in police custody.
