Thank you for the moving and thoughtful letter from Ismaeel Yaqoob (Our Future, Our Choice, Opinion, March 15) about the effect of the referendum about the European Union on minority groups.
Ismaeel said rightly that Parliament has "struggled to find a response" to the increase in hate crimes.
Parliament did better in the Race Relations Bill debate in Parliament on April 23, 1968. You can find it in Hansard.
I feel that the things that Callaghan, Ennals and Winstanley said then are just as relevant now.
