An up-and-coming R&B singer from Watford is due to release his first EP next month.

Jamie Hance aka JH, 20, has seen his music career over the last year rise to the next level by collaborating with MOBO “legend” DJ Ironik and by releasing his latest single “Hope for Change” on Friday (April 12).

Watford Observer:

The Watford-born Garage singer and rapper said his debut EP entitled “Everything” will have “something for everyone”. It is due to be released on May 6.

Jamie will perform tracks from his album at a launch party at the Hidden Bar on Market Street on Saturday (May 4).

Watford Observer:

Speaking to the Watford Observer he said: "There is a real mixture of Garage and R&B on my album, at times it even crosses over into House.

"I really took my time writing it and I'm excited for people to hear what I’ve got. I feel there's something for everyone on there.”

Jamie’s music aspirations grew when he won the Beautiful Alice Festival in St Albans in 2017.

He said: "It was great to be part of the festival and even better when I won it. I felt like it gave me a real platform for my music and I got a lot of support from people.

“From there, the track I won with was then featured on BBC Music Introducing and things took off from there really."

Watford Observer:

Since then he has been recognised by artists like Artful Dodger and emcee Paigey Cakey and has performed with Brit Awards winner and former Sugababes singer Mutya Buena.

His new music video “Hope for Change” is filmed in Watford which he proudly says is him “sticking to his roots creating real authenticity”.

He said: "You can expect Garage vibes from my new single, I wrote the track based on the music industry and about how there is no set path into it.

"The song is about not having any guarantees or guidance, but still having a sense of hope to push you through.

“The track doesn't just apply to the music business; it can be interpreted in whatever situation people may find themselves in. If you don't have hope you don't have much."

The 20-year-old also recently shot the latest Lucozade advert with boxer Anthony Joshua, was cast in the new reality series The Balcony for SBTV and has been busy finding his feet with Reprezent Radio.

He added: “My future aspirations are to keep working hard, stay motivated and keep enjoying what I'm doing.”
