A former town centre library is to be turned into 18 new flats for disabled adults, as part of the council’s plans to deliver more homes.

The building in Imperial Drive, which used to house Rayners Lane Library, will also be extended by two storeys to accommodate its new use.

Harrow Council’s planning committee unanimously approved the scheme, citing no significant issues and welcoming new, tailored homes in the area.

The development will be car free, with planning officers noting the strong nearby public transport links.

It will also include new offices, an employment agency, an education centre for residents and a café with outdoor seating.
