Outstanding achievements by hard working villagers have been recognised.

Kings Langley Parish Council presented 11 community awards at its annual parish meeting.

Parish Council vice chairman Cllr Gerry Angiolini said the awards seek to reward residents for their service to the community.

The scheme has five categories: improving lives of residents, action in the community, cleaner and greener action, young persons and business in the community.

There is a new lifetime achievement award, given for exceptional service.

The Action in the Community category award went to Carol Chandler, Beverley Funnell and Margaret Rogers for their outstanding work with the village carnival, which has helped many charities.

The Business in the Community award went to Jeff Folkins and Claire Carpentier of delicatessen Dalling & Co for their help in what has been called “a renaissance in the high street”.

Wendy Smith, Ann Kircher, Pat Blake, Phyllis Ratcliffe received awards for their work with young people, in recognition of their work with the Guiding movement for well over 40 years.

This award was also shared with Ann Johnson and Susan Wallace, who started and have run a garden club for Year 3 and 4 children at Kings Langley Primary School for over 10 years, transforming a scrubby lawn into a patch of fruit bushes and trees, flowers, shrubs and herbs.
