I can assure Mr Carre (We need the facts, Letters, April 19) that there are no secrets about the Oxhey parking consultation and we have as he acknowledges updated residents on the next steps.

The results of the recent consultation are available to anyone on request and they will be formally published when we carry out the next stage of consultation on detailed proposals based on residents’ previous responses.

The council is legally prohibited from launching new proposals or carrying out major consultations during the election period, which is why the next stage will take place during the summer.

We are very aware that there are strong views both for and against controlled parking, even down to differing opinions on the precise wording of questionnaires. Our aim as ward councillors is to give people the opportunity to express their views so that whether they opt for change or for the status quo what is agreed reflects the preferences of the majority of residents.
