A 600-mile static cycle challenge will help raise money for children and young people who are living with cancer.

The 600 mile challenge, to be held at Croxley Park, represents the £600 extra a month it costs families who have a child with cancer.

CLIC Sargent, the UK’s only cancer charity for those aged 0 to 24, came up with the initiative to get the community involved with their cause.

Minesh Shah's daughter Sheena was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2016. He will be attending the fundraiser.

He said: “My daughter was feeling terrible in every sense - physically, emotionally, mentally. CLIC Sargent really helped with the latter two by visiting her regularly. They informed us of many things which we weren't aware of, such as applying for the disabled driving badge. We were spending a fortune attending the UCL hospital and on parking. Once my daughter was able to walk, CLIC Sargent arranged days out. This may seem a small gesture, but it helped my daughter immensely. She started to gain her inner confidence again, especially after losing all her hair. We are indebted to CLIC Sargent in our hour of need.”

Within the last year CLIC Sargent has supported 146 children and young people from Hertfordshire.

Karen Olden, fundraiser engagement manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “We want to join the community. As a charity we provide emotional and financial support, not only to the child but to the family and friends too.”

Anytime Fitness, Croxley Park, Friday May 10 9am-6pm. Anyone is welcome to attend.
