An 18-year-old volunteer will be going to Nepal to help out with projects for three months.
João Filipe Costa Figueiredo, from South Oxhey, Watford, is raising money to support a project tackling poverty in Nepal.
Mr Filipe will travel there at the end of next month with international development organisation Raleigh International.
However, before he leaves for Nepal, he needs to raise £800.
Already halfway there, Mr Filipe will take part in the Watford Colour Run on May 19 to raise the rest of the money.
The volunteer said: "I am looking forward to submerging myself into a completely different culture and being a part of a sustainable project, part of a much-wider stewardship programme.
“I cannot wait to disconnect from the digital world for nearly three months - to reconnect with mother nature and become more mindful.
“I’m most excited about meeting the Nepalese volunteers I'll be working alongside, as it'll be so interesting to find out what life is like for young people there. "
