There was a major police presence in Watford this afternoon after reports of a man with a gun.
Police officers were urgently called to Observer Drive, off Rickmansworth Road, shortly before 5pm today.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said it had responded to concerns that someone had been seen holding a pistol in the middle of the road.
They immediately attended the street while a police helicopter was also scrambled to the scene and a search was carried out.
It turned out the pistol was a BB gun.
- A 28-year-old man from Watford has been arrested on suspicion of having an imitation firearm in a public place. He is currently in police custody.
The incident was resolved safely and police have now left the area.
