Air accident investigators have launched inquiries after a microlight crashed near Penrith.
The Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) has dispatched a team to establish the cause of a microlight aircraft crash near Newby, south-east of Penrith.
The AAIB, an arm of the Government's Department for Transport, is tasked with establishing the official cause of air accidents.
In an announcement made on Saturday, the investigations body confirmed a team had been sent to the site.
The extent of any injuries sustained as a result of the air crash has not been confirmed, as both the AAIB and Cumbria Police were unavailable for comment yesterday.
