Police are stressing that a multiple stabbing in Watford overnight was an ‘isolated incident’.

Three people were stabbed in Vicarage Road at around 3:15am.

The victims, a man aged in his 40s, a man aged in his 30s, and a woman aged in her 30s, all remain in hospital.

A cordon remains in place in Vicarage Road and a police investigation is ongoing.

Watford Observer:

West Watford county councillor Nigel Bell says he has been reassured by the police’s response to the stabbing.

He said: “I am shocked and saddened that this has happened in West Watford. I quickly looked for reassurance as residents were very concerned by what happened. After speaking with the local inspector, I am at least reassured that it seems to not be a county lines or gang-related issue.

“I am pleased that police are doing extra patrols around the area today and visiting some schools."

Watford MP Richard Harrington has described the incident as “shocking” and says he is keeping a close eye on the situation.

He added that he will be urgently meeting with Watford’s Chief Inspector Matt Phillips.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor added: “This is a dreadful incident and my thoughts are with the victims. Violent crime has absolutely no place in Watford and incidents like these are extremely rare in our town.”

Watford Observer:

Police say they believe all those involved in the multiple stabbing were known to each other.

A spokeswoman said: "Enquiries into the incident are continuing at this time, however it is believed to have been an isolated incident between people who are known to each other and there is no perceived ongoing threat to members of the community."

Witnesses to the incident, or anyone else with information, are asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via 101, quoting reference ISR 49 of July 3.
