Drivers are likely to face some delays as a new type of pedestrian crossing is introduced.
A puffin style crossing is being created near Asda in St Albans Road, North Watford, and coincides with plans to replace the traffic lights at the supermarket junction.
Work began today (Monday) and will last for two weeks (July 24). Temporary lights are in place.
Hertfordshire County Council says the new puffin crossing will help keep pedestrians safe. Puffin crossings are a type of pedestrian crossing with traffic lights which turn green when no more pedestrians are detected on the crossing.
The pedestrian crossing across the Asda exit is also being widened.
Meanwhile roadworks in Hempstead Road which caused gridlock out of Watford town centre yesterday are expected to be completed by tomorrow.
Affinity Water is carrying out emergency works near the junction of Ridge Lane.
