Dozens of shoppers were evacuated from a supermarket in Watford yesterday after a fire alarm went off.
People were ushered out of Tesco Extra at Waterfields Retail Park shortly before 7pm yesterday and pictures showed crowds gathered at the entrance to the store.
Tesco confirmed it was a false alarm and there was no need for fire crews to attend. But just as shoppers were being allowed back into the store, the alarm rang again, before the problem was fixed.
But coincidentally, shortly after 9.30pm, firefighters were called to Tesco after reports of flooding.
A delivery lorry had crashed into the store's sprinkler system in the loading bays.
