Aldi has released details about the opening of its eagerly awaited store in Borehamwood.

Doors will open at 8am on Thursday August 29 with the first 30 customers through the doors receiving a free bag of fresh fruit and vegetables from the budget supermarket's Super 6 range.

The ribbon at the store in Borehamwood Shopping Park will be cut by Olympic silver medallist Olivia Carnegie-Brown, one of Great Britain's star rowers.

The Aldi store will include a 'food to go' section at the front of the store, and will also stock a range of food, alcohol, and health and beauty products.

Aldi’s 'Special buys' will also be available every Thursday and Sunday, offering value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

Area manager, Jess Dunkley, said: "We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Borehamwood. It’s set to be a special day as we’ll be celebrating the opening of Aldi’s first store in the area and having Olympic hero, Olivia Carnegie-Brown join us will make it a morning to remember."

Rowing Sensation, Olivia Carnegie-Brown, added: "I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store in Borehamwood. It’ll be a great way for me to give back to the local community and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its endless support of Team GB."

Opening hours at the store, which was formerly home to New Look, will be 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturdays and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
