A “popular” police community support officer has died aged 44.
Police said in a tweet Hertsmere PCSO Rosario Torrisi died after a "short illness" on Friday, October 18 and that his passing left “a big gap for us all”.
Mr Torrisi joined the Borehamwood and Elstree Safer Neighbourhood Team in May this year serving the Cowley Hill area, and Hertfordshire Constabulary praised the PCSO for the impact he had on the community.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Matt Cann said: “Rosario was an excellent PCSO who was popular and in the short time he was here, made a huge positive impact on the community he served in the Cowley Hill area.
“He was proud to serve Hertfordshire Constabulary as a PCSO and made a significant contribution to the team whilst he was here.
“Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues, who are affected by his untimely passing.”
It is with great sadness that on Friday 18th October our colleague and friend PCSO Rosario Torrisi passed away after a short illness. Although his time at Hertsmere was short his impact on the local community was huge. His passing leaves a big gap for us all 💙 #Policefamily
