I was caught up in the gridlock on Saturday, October 12.
The report in Friday’s Observer was almost correct. However, what your reporter did not mention was the appalling driving!
I was stuck in Waterfields and it took me an hour just to get to the traffic lights! The car park was not full. In fact, the area in front of Smyths was almost empty.
The problems that I could see were caused by drivers going down the lanes in the opposite direction to the arrows and trying to make two lines of traffic when there could only be one.
When I eventually got to the roundabout where traffic was joined by those exiting Tesco it was a free-for-all and at times there were three lanes of traffic trying to get round the roundabout.

Obviously, the situation was made worse by there being only one entrance and exit for Waterfields and Tesco.
I live less than two miles from Waterfields and it took me more than an hour and a half to get home. I was due to meet friends to go to the cinema but by the time I eventually got into moving traffic the film would have started and I had to miss it.
