Former Conservative minister Nick Hurd won the seat in 2017 with a 26.2% majority, with 30,555 votes giving him a 57.2% share, down 2.3% on the previous election in 2015.

The constituency voted 50.46% to remain in the EU Referendum. 

The seat has been held by Conservatives since created in the 2010 election boundaries changes.

Mr Hurd announced he would stand down earlier this year, saying he wanted ‘a new challenge’.

Peymana Assad (Labour)

Peymana Assad was selected as Labour’s candidate in November having served on the Harrow Council, representing Roxeth, since May 2018.

She has spoken about her pride in involvement in local politics, 25 years after her parents came to Britain as political refugees from Afghanistan.

Tim Durham (Renew) - provisional, not confirmed

Since leaving his job at BBC Radio, Tim Durham has been a senior IT consultant for 14 years working with major businesses such as Lloyds Banking Group and British Telecom. Mr Durham currently runs his own photography business.

Sarah Green (Green)

Sarah Green ran in the 2017 election and is a keen environmentalist. 

Ms Green is campaigning to stop HS2, fracking and protecting the Green Belt. She also has a background in teaching and dyslexia support. 

“Currently I operate a small business, passenger boat on the Grand Union Canal which has increased my respect and appreciation of nature and for conservation.”

David Simmonds (Conservative)

David Simmonds, the deputy leader of Hillingdon council, is the Conservative candidate after seeing off a challenge from fellow councillors Resham Kotecha and Ameet Jogia.

Mr Simmonds has contested two previous parliamentary elections and previously worked in finance for Lloyds TSB and HSBC. He is chairman of the Local Government Association and was awarded a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list four years ago.
