A fifth man has been charged with the murder of a 26-year-old man.

Detectives investigating the death of Luke O'Connell made an arrest yesterday.

Mr O'Connell died following an incident in Gammons Lane, Watford, in the early hours of August 31 which involved a crash between three vehicles and a stabbing.

Mr O'Connell died in hospital from his injuries.

  • Umar Sarfraz, 21, of Whippendell Road, Watford, was arrested yesterday (Saturday November 9) and charged with murder. He will appear at Hatfield Remand Court tomorrow, Monday November 11.
  • Shahnavaz Azad, 27, of Nicholas Close, Watford; Mohammed Haroon Azad, 21, of Nicholas Close, Watford; Aamir Mustafa, 22, of St George’s Road, Watford and Hamza Shah, 19, of Hagden Lane, Watford have all been charged with murder. A pre-trial preparation hearing is scheduled for 3 December at St Albans Crown Court. A provisional trial court date has been set for March 2 2020 at St Albans Crown Court.
  • Omar Hamid-Chohan, aged 25, of The Harebreaks, Watford, has been charged with assisting an offender. He has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear before St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday November 15 for a first hearing.
  • A 19 year old woman from Watford was last month (September) arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been summoned to appear before St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday November 15 to answer two charges of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.                              ​
