POLICE are appealing for a pedestrian who was hit by a car in Blackburn to get in touch.

The incident took place on Whalley Banks, at the junction of Pearson Street at 7.48pm last night.

There were two pedestrians involved in a collision with a Fiat Punto.

One of them, a woman, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries.

A man, who was believed to be involved, left the scene before police arrived and officers are making enquiries to trace him.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "It is unknown what injuries he may have received. We would appeal directly to him to contact us.

"The Fiat Punto failed to stop.

"The car believed to be involved was later found on Lower Hollin Bank Street with significant front end damage and attempts had been made to set the vehicle on fire.

"No arrests have been made at this stage.

"Anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen anyone in the vehicle described or leaving it should call 101 quoting log number 1345 of 19th November."
