A LADY who used to work at an Oswestry card shop before it closed down earlier this year, has opened her own business.

The new shop, Keepers Cards and Gifts, has been opened this week in Church Street, by local woman Cheryl Thomas.

Cheryl previously worked at the Card Outlet which was situated in Bailey Street.

Many were left disappointed when the store closed for good earlier this year after it had a long-established presence, opening its doors more than 20 years ago, so Cheryl made it her mission to open another card shop.

She was so sad to see the Card Outlet store close down that took it upon herself to open a new, but similar venture that would bridge the gap in the market left by the shop’s closure.

After a successful opening, Cheryl was delighted with the response towards her new shop, which has opened just in time for the festive season.

“I’ve been so overwhelmed by the positive response I’ve had ahead of the shop opening,” said Cheryl.

“The people of Oswestry are so supportive of new local businesses, I feel very lucky.

“I hope to see lots of familiar and new faces very soon!”

Cheryl’s daughter-in-law, Sonia Richardson was delighted to see her mother-in-law open a new local business.

“She’s an incredible woman and deserves the best possible start to her new business journey,” added Sonia.

Keepers Cards and Gifts is now open and can be found at 3A Church Street, in the alleyway parallel to Boots.
