US President Donald Trump has arrived in the UK ahead of a two-day Nato summit.

Mr Trump and his wife Melania flew in to Stansted Airport in Essex on Monday evening.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will break off from election campaigning to host the gathering of Nato leaders which marks the alliance's 70th anniversary.

Security challenges facing the world will be discussed by the 29 member states.

Formal Nato events will begin with a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen on Tuesday evening.

The main talks will take place on Wednesday at The Grove, in Chandler's Cross.

A huge security operation is already in place, with police and stewards patrolling the hotel and grounds.

Fencing has been erected along Langleybury Lane and motorcycle police have been riding along nearby roads.

Officers have also been stationed at entrances to The Grove.

Roads, canal paths, and footpaths are all being shut off as part of the security operation with a wide cordon in place.

Grove Mill Lane closed this morning (Monday) and will not reopen until 8pm on Wednesday.

Fir Tree Hill and Langleybury Lane will be closed from 6am tomorrow morning (Tuesday) until Wednesday. 8pm

The biggest problem facing Watford drivers is the closure of Hempstead Road between Hunton Bridge roundabout and Courtlands Drive.

Huge disruption is expected on the streets, with the road closing from 11pm tomorrow until 11.59pm on Wednesday.

Diversion are via A41 to The Dome roundabout, A412 St Albans Road to Town Hall roundabout and A411 Hempstead Road.

All rights of way across the hotel will be closed from 4pm on December 3 to 8pm on December 4.

The Grand Union and canal path will be closed to boats and pedestrians from Lock 74 to 76 from 2pm on December 2 to 9am on December 5.

Flying is also prohibited.

As a result of the NATO summit, some schools and colleges are finishing early on Wednesday while some places are not opening at all.

There has been at least one confirmed protest that will take place on Wednesday against Mr Trump.
