A man was stabbed on a canal path on Friday evening.
Police and paramedics were called to woodland area in Hunton Bridge just before 7pm on November 29.
A man in his 20s was found with stab wounds on the canal path that runs alongside the A41 between Hunton Bridge and the Shell petrol station.
He was taken to hospital, where his injuries are not life-threatening.
Hertfordshire Constabulary understands the victim intervened between two men who he saw arguing, and he was then assaulted by one of the men.
A police spokeswoman said he sustained "stab wounds" suggesting he was stabbed more than once.
Police launched a manhunt for the suspects but the search was unsuccessful.
The stabbing happened close to The Grove which is hosting world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, for a NATO summit tomorrow (Wednesday).
Dozens of police officers and stewards have been patrolling the site with a wide cordon in place, although this level of security was always to be expected.

Security fencing along Langleybury Lane
Langleybury Lane, Grove Mill Lane, and Fir Tree Hill are now all closed until 8pm on Wednesday, with Hempstead Road shutting from 11pm tonight (Tuesday) until 11.59pm tomorrow between Courtlands Drive and the Hunton Bridge roundabout.
