A patient has been rushed to hospital following a crash involving four vehicles.

Three fire crews, police, and paramedics were called to Elstree Road in Bushey Heath earlier this afternoon.

It was due to a collision between a Lexus and a Fiat 500. Two parked vehicles were also damaged.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue has said special cutting gear was used to free a "time critical" casualty.

Two fire crews from Watford and a crew from Borehamwood attended.

An East of England Ambulance service spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.33pm with reports of a collision in Elstree Road, Bushey Heath.

"We sent one ambulance and an ambulance officer. One person was taken to Watford General Hospital for further care."

Numerous police vehicles have been spotted at the scene and Elstree Road is currently closed in both directions between Heathbourne Road and Little Bushey Lane.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "Police were called just after 1.10pm today (Tuesday 3 December) following a road traffic collision in Elstree Road, Bushey Heath.

"Two vehicles were involved – a Lexus and a Fiat 500 - and two parked vehicles were also damaged.

"Officers are currently on scene, alongside the fire and ambulance services and a number of road closures have been put in place."

Traffic is really beginning to build in the area with queues in High Road, Sparrow's Herne, and Heathbourne Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Drivers should also be aware of heavy traffic both ways in Waterfields Way, Watford at the moment. There are some roadworks in the area.
