A giant star and 'symphonic nativity' has entertained churchgoers as they begin to celebrate the festive season.
A 2.5 metre steel sculpture, suspended above their main staircase and wrapped with 600 LED lights, has brightened the lobby at the Wellspring Church Centre in Watford.
Exploring the theme 'Star of Wonder' the 55kg star was designed and fabricated from scaffolding poles by former church member Jonno Maude who now lives and works as a furniture maker in Yorkshire.
Last Sunday the service was filled with a unique half-hour orchestral experience written and performed by church members.
Inspired by the famous fairytale 'Peter and the Wolf', senior leader Rev Helen Roberts decided to write 'Wonder: A Symphonic Nativity' in collaboration with church members Adam and Dee Waller.
The unique 30-minute experience intertwined poetic storytelling of the first Christmas with rich melodies and rhythms, each movement putting in words and music the experience of Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds and wise men.
Senior Minister Rev Tim Roberts said: "We celebrate creativity here and it's fun to capture a fresh sense of wonder to a story we hear every year. I don't know of a more wonder-filled story than the birth of Jesus."
Star of Wonder services continue at Wellspring Church throughout the Christmas season.
