For several weeks, Watford Philharmonic Society has been rehearsing its annual Christmas concert, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Colosseum. As in previous years, we were being joined by a choir of children, who this year were from Chater Junior School.
We were advised last week that owing to essential repairs being carried out at the Watford Colosseum not having been completed, the concert would have to be postponed or cancelled. While we appreciate the reasons for this action, we recognise that many people have been disappointed to learn that this ever-popular event had to be cancelled. The children especially had worked very hard and were sounding fantastic!
We would like to apologise to our regular concert-goers and to anyone else affected by this late and necessary change of plan. In the meantime, we wish all our many supporters a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year and we very much hope to see you next year on April 25 when we will be performing the daddy of all choral pieces, Handel’s magnificent Messiah. Unmissable!
David Pollak
Chairman – Watford Philharmonic Society
