A pair of first-class Eurostar tickets was among some of the bizarre items to be forgotten by guests at a hotel chain.

To welcome the new year, Travelodge has released its annual list of the weirdest things that people left behind in its hotels in 2019.

Some of the things left in the lost and found offices of the Watford, Borehamwood and Harrow hotels are not the most common – and it seems this year guests left behind some rather expensive belongings.

This includes a £1,000 gift card for Harrods, as well as a pair of first-class Eurostar tickets and a large drone.

Included in the number of odd finds were a set of Versace mugs, a ukulele, a Mont Blonc pen, a vintage dolls house and a family tree.

But elsewhere the hotel franchise found that during 2019 there had been a growing trend in wedding props, wedding attire and even a Best Man being left behind at its hotels.

There has also been a growing trend of forgetful pet owners. One guest staying at Stratford Upon Avon Travelodge forgot her pair of Alpacas called Ant & Dec.

And a cat show enthusiast staying at Stirling Travelodge thought her husband, John had placed her treasured Persian Chinchilla cat, Angel, into the car and only realised Angel was still in the room, 50 miles into their journey.

Drivers are even forgetting their cars – an expensive Aston Martin was one left behind at one of the hotels this year.

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge Spokeswoman said: “When it comes to why so many of our customers forget their treasured items, it’s basically due to us all being time poor, juggling multiple tasks and being in a hurry to get from A to B. In the rush, valuable possessions are easily forgotten.”
