A multi-million-pound expansion at an aerodrome has been designed to make it the new “heliport choice of the capital”.

ICE Helicopters, which is based at Elstree Aerodrome in Hogg Lane, officially opened its larger space at the site to the public as it continues to ramp up helicopter flight training.

The upgraded and larger space features a 9,000 square foot building that includes several offices, meeting rooms and fixed base operator facilities.

This will allow aerodrome users to utilise meeting rooms, have refreshments and watch aircraft from a viewing platform looking out over the airfield.

And the dedicated small and medium sized meeting rooms have been fully furnished to appeal to those hosting formal, casual or boardroom style meetings.

Pilots will also be able to have their medicals carried out on site, with there also be an upgraded waiting room in the hangar for them to prepare for their flight.

The Aviation Centre will also offer a brand-new selection of modern, fully furnished VIP suites that can be hired for parties, launches and other events of any size.

Jack Fox, Head of Operations at ICE Helicopters, said: “With its perfect location for stress-free travel into London, we believe Elstree is the future of helicopter operations for London.

“As we expand our approach to flight training, we’re excited to be supporting London’s aviation community with a wide range of services ranging from hangarage to passenger-to-helipad handling.”
