A head teacher says "hard work has paid off" after her school went from 'requires improvement' to 'good' following an Ofsted inspection.

Clore Shalom Primary School in Shenley has achieved a 'good' rating after inspectors visited the school on January 28 and 29.

The school achieved a 'good' rating in all categories including overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.

There was praise from the inspectors for the school's community spirit, "ambitious curriculum", and "strong leadership".

Head teacher Karen Cohen is revelling with the rating given by Ofsted after a "challenging couple of years".

She said: "The whole school community has worked hard for years. There have been many challenges over the last couple of years, but the hard work, dedication and determination of our entire community has paid off. I couldn’t be more proud of the team, and huge praise also has to go to the children and parental body, because they have made us want to keep driving forward and have supported us every step of the way.

"This whole process has been about making school a better experience for the pupils and giving them the best possible platform from which to go on to secondary school and be equipped to achieve anything they want from life. What makes me especially happy is that the inspectors recognised the cohesiveness of the entire staff body and wider school community.

"There is a real sense that everyone is moving in the same direction with the same vision.

"They also acknowledged the 'significant improvements in the quality of education', which I was delighted with.

"This report is an excellent building block for the next few years and we are all excited about the next stage of development for our wonderful school."

The chairman of governors at Clore Shalom, Katie Adams, said: "This is an outcome that the entire school community deserves. Our headteacher, the senior leadership team and staff have worked with efficiency, determination and passion over the past few years to secure good outcomes across the board for the children.

"As a governing body, we will continue to work strategically with the school to ensure that it grows from strength to strength. It is not easy to strike the balance between having hard-working, high achieving pupils and maintaining the small school community feel that makes Clore Shalom so special, but thanks has to go to the staff, parents and children for making this possible."
