A lorry jackknifed after smashing into a barrier overnight.
The white lorry blocked the whole of the A1 southbound carriageway between South Mimms and Borehamwood after crashing at around 11.40pm last night.
Emergency services were called to the incident but fortunately no injuries were reported.
However, the lorry began leaking diesel so Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue were called to the scene.
Hertfordshire Highways were also called and the Environment Agency were informed about what was happening.
The A1 was shut for some time due to the fuel spillage and to recover the lorry.

Police reported that all southbound traffic was diverted off at junction 1 for the M25 with police urging motorists to avoid the area.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire road policing unit tweeted images from the scene which showed the cab of the lorry facing in the wrong direction after jackknifing.
The trailer was left blocking all three lanes of carriageway.
The lorry was eventually recovered and the road reopened at around 5am, according to Highways England.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
