FOREST GREEN has taken measures to guard against coronavirus by training remotely from their Chippenham-based facility for a week.

Mark Cooper’s squad will adhere to individualised fitness plans from Tom Huelin, head of fitness and conditioning at the League Two club.

Director of football Richard Hughes insisted the club are following the best protocol to negate any possible illness from within the camp.

“All the official messages we were receiving said there needs to be a sensible approach to how we operate,” said Hughes.

“As a club, we thought that giving the players the time off away from the training ground would be the best way to prevent any possible infection.

“The players are all healthy and well, and were ready for action on Friday until the news of the postponement broke.

“They will make the most of the time off and have a short break to rest up, though they’ve got individualised fitness plans to keep them ticking over until Monday, March 23.”

The postponement will also include the FGR Academy, who will be returning home until further notice.

Forest Green’s New Lawn remains open to office staff.
