- Boris Johnson has tonight announced a lockdown for the UK.

- In a special televised statement at 8.30pm, the Prime Minister told people to stay at home unless they are shopping, exercising, providing care to a vulnerable person or travelling to or from work (but only if travelling to work is necessary).

- He said police could take action on those who disobey - this includes handing out fines and dispersing gatherings.

- Gatherings will not be allowed and all social events - including weddings and baptisms - should stop, Mr Johnson said. Funerals have been excluded from this list.

- As of today, there are 335 deaths linked to Covid-19 and 6,650 who have tested positive so far. In Hertfordshire, there have been 115 positive cases.

- This afternoon, it was confirmed that a second patient at Watford General Hospital has died. This makes it the third death in Hertfordshire.
