I LEFT a local supermarket yesterday profoundly disturbed by the behaviour of a fortunately small number of customers.

A woman was arguing loudly that she should be allowed more than her ration of packets of biscuits as some were chocolate and some plain.

This occupied the time and energy of three staff.

As this calmed, a very well spoken man began shouting abuse at a shop worker who was politely explaining the new rules.

He then stormed out.

In addition to protecting shop workers from infection, the time has come to simply remove these disgusting individuals promptly and without discussion, where there is a security option available, or walk away and leave each one isolated.
