There will be another mass round of applause for NHS workers tonight.

This comes after hundreds of people across Watford took part in a UK-wide clapping event last Thursday to thank medical staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

From now on, the event will take place every Thursday at 8pm, the Clap for Our Carers campaign website announced.

So tonight, residents are again invited to clap for the NHS from their doorsteps, balconies or windows.

Last week, readers from Abbots Langley, Holywell, Watford and South Oxhey shared videos of their families and neighbours cheering and clapping from their homes during the lockdown. You can re-watch the videos here.

The Watford Observer and its sister papers have also launched a campaign to show appreciation for our NHS heroes.

We are raising money for NHS Charities Together and their urgent Covid-19 appeal.

Donations will be used to create well-being packs and gifts for staff, food deliveries and refreshments, covering the cost of accommodation and travel to help NHS staff and volunteers.

We have asked readers to support healthcare workers and to let them know we are all thankful.

You can get involved and support our campaign donating to our fundraising page: gofundme.com/f/support-our-nhs-guardian-angels

You can also share our appeal and tell us why you are thankful for the NHS on social media. Use the hashtag #ThankYouNHS
