Dear carers, shopkeepers, and all those working in Nascot,

We are writing to thank you for your invaluable contribution to our community during these most difficult of times.

Whether you work in one of our local shops, restaurants or care homes, your hard work in the face of extraordinary pressures and considerable personal danger is a testament to the resilience of you as individuals and the organisations you serve.

You are ensuring vulnerable people are getting the care and support they need, ensuring local people can still access essential food and household items, and ensuring that our community can continue to function and meet the needs of our friends and neighbours.

Watford Borough Council is working with Watford and Three Rivers Trust (W3RT) to respond to the crisis here in Watford. At this unprecedented time of disruption and uncertainty over 1,000 people have come forward to guarantee that no one in our town is forgotten.

Our local charities and army of volunteers are bringing food and medical supplies to those unable to leave their homes, supporting victims of domestic abuse, increasing support for those with mental health issues, offering companionship to those feeling isolated and alone, and extending a helping hand by donating much needed food or financial contributions to our crisis appeal.

Your Nascot councillors are helping to identify people in danger, we are making hundreds of telephone calls to over-70’s and helping them to register for support from Watford Borough Council’s ‘Watford Helps’ initiative.

More than £150,000 has been donated to the Watford Covid-19 Crisis Appeal, these much-needed funds are being used to support our local charities and voluntary organisations to respond to the impact this terrible virus is having on our community.

We know that for many people this is a deeply troubling and uncertain period, your central role in combatting Covid-19 in Nascot will ensure that we can come through these most extraordinary of times stronger and more prepared for the challenges ahead.

We wish you and your loved ones good health. Thank you.

Jane Johnson, Mark Watkin and Mark Hofman
