For the second week running Richard Newcombe (Food security concern, Opinion, June 4) has been spreading fear in his and the European Movement’s campaign to delay and ultimately stop Brexit.

We do not get cheaper food because of the EU but in many cases pay more through import tariffs from non EU sources, such as the Commonwealth.Through the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) we have to pay for backward and inefficient farmers such as those in France.

On the 16th June it will be four years since we voted to leave the EU in the largest ever democratic UK vote. Finally despite the many obstacles and disruption cause by the losing side we have finally left and the transition period will end in December. To stay under EU control would render us liable for millions more which we will need ourselves to sustain recovery post pandemic.
