A READER has nominated a grocer who allowed her daughters to decorate the pavement outside the shop during lockdown as our shop of the week.

Carrie Stephenson of King Edward Road, Watford, chose Rose Grocers in Chalk Hill, Watford, because of the staff’s friendly attitude.

Asked what makes this shop special, she said: “They are so welcoming and very kind to my children and have built a lovely relationship with them.

“They will always try to source something not in the shop that one may need or want on a regular basis.”

She described how the shop went the extra mile to help the community in the Covid-19 pandemic?

She added: “During the Covid-19 lockdown Raj and his team worked around the clock to ensure that the locals could get supplies including all items that were in very short supply nationally. They also, in some cases, offered to deliver orders.

“Also during the lockdown the residents of Oxhey Village were collecting and delivering large amounts of goods to the Watford Food Bank and to the New Hope Trust. Raj also kindly donated some goods for our cause.”
