A PUB in the New Forest has reopened today following a sudden closure due to a call from the NHS track and trace coronavirus service.

As reported, The Mayflower in King's Saltern Road, Lymington, announced it would be closed on Saturday night as a "precautionary measure".

It has now been confirmed a member of kitchen staff had received a track and trace call, which led to the site closing immediately.

Staff were subsequently tested and all returned negative results for Covid-19.

A statement from The Mayflower said: "Due to having a robust Covid-19 policy in place, The Mayflower were able to act on this quickly and effectively meaning all staff have subsequently been tested and are negative.

"The pub has been thoroughly deep cleaned and is now able to reopen its doors, confident that its team and guests are safe to visit.

"We hope to welcome you back to the Mayflower now it has re-opened."
