AN MP has urged people to follow government guidelines if they visit Brighton and Hove.
The appeal from Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas comes ahead of a weekend in which temperatures are expected to top 30C.
The former Green party leader said: "We want people to enjoy our beaches and our city.
"But, more than that, we want them to be safe.
"The city’s done an amazing job so far in avoiding a further Covid outbreak, despite the numbers of visitors coming here.
"But we need to keep it that way and that means people observing social distancing, wearing masks where required and taking care of themselves and others.
"It is possible to enjoy most of what Brighton and Hove has to offer and stay safe at the same time.
"So if you come, have a great time, but don’t put at risk your health or the health of people who live here."
Yesterday, thousands of people descended on the city's seafront as the mercury soared to 32C.
Last Friday, a previous spell of warm weather encouraged a large number of people to descend on Brighton and Hove's pebbles, causing the city council to issue a warning.

It read: "We're concerned about the number of people in the city.
"If you're not already here, please don't travel to the city today.
"There is limited capacity on public transport.
"Large numbers make it impossible to maintain physical distancing."
